I find it completely sickening that our governor is praying for rain for Georgia when an educated man should understand that rain in Georgia depends on what's happening globally in the environment. If he wants to hold a prayer vigil, he should consider something that might be changed by bringing it to the attention of his constituency. There are 567,000 children in foster care in this country and most of them could have been safely placed with their grandparents or some other relative. This man is blissfully uncaring about the fact that the Department of Family and Children Services in this state is ignoring the guidelines that are mandated by law and refusing to offer the services that provide jobs for thousands of state employees. These services are available to families and are supposed to be used to avoid the seizures of children that take place daily by providing family members with resources that make their homes meet required standards. DFCS (CPS) spends multi millions of dollars paying foster parents that could be taken from funds already allocated to these widely unused services to help the families they are involved with. These services are available and there are thousands of state employees paid to provide them and I have to wonder what these employees are doing to justify their salaries if they aren't involved with DFCS in being sure they are offered to the people who need them. I feel strongly that our governor is paid enough money that he should be doing something for our people other than the political grand standing that he engaged in on the capitol steps praying for rain. It was nothing more than an embarrassing display of ignorance when he could be doing something to ensure that the youngest of our citizens grow up with a chance to be healthy, strong, and productive. And, by the way, the next time our governor wants to pray that we get rain he could at least make some sense by praying for the moral strength to help put an end to the idiotic environmental practices that have caused the drought in the first place.

Governor Sonny Perdue's Prayers were not even genuine. The TV stations in Birmingham had already predicted rain and it is only a day or 2 until their weather reaches Atlanta. Only problem, the rain ran just about dry by the time it got to Georgia and Sonny's prayers were not answered as he had planned.

The point of this is to say that you cannot expect honesty and integrity out of a man who uses religion to garner votes and popularity. He used the same old trick that "rainmakers" (con men) used in the early to mid 20th century. They would learn the weather patterns and listen to the short wave radio for rain on the way. Then they would go to small towns claiming to be rainmakers and collect money on the pretense that they made the rain that had been on the way.

Sonny's prayers were an old con with a new face, much like his governorship. So, when it comes to doing something honest and upright, don't depend on him, he hasn't learned those words yet.
